Tony Kelly, Managing Director of Northern Racing, and Jamie Aitchison, Sport Editor at Channel 4, are the latest in a long line of distinguished international speakers confirmed for the inaugural Leaders in Racing conference, held on the 6th October 2011 at Chelsea FC.
One of the most impressive line ups of international speakers ever assembled will now gather alongside a soon to SELL OUT audience of over 180 delegates from over 25 countries for this eagerly anticipated event on the future of Racing.
Kelly and Aitchison will be joining Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, CEO, Hong Kong Jockey Club; Edward Wray, Co-Founder and Chairman, Betfair; David Attenborough, Managing Director & CEO, Tabcorp; Simon Bazalgette, Group Chief Executive, The Jockey Club; Rod Street, CEO, Racing for Change and British Champions Series; Paul Roy, Chairman, The British Horseracing Authority; Trevor Beaumont, CEO, BetFred Group; Rian Du Plessis, Group CEO, Phumelela; Simon Clare, PR and Broadcast Director, Coral; Paul Fisher, Group Managing Director, The Jockey Club Racecourses; Bill Hogwood, Deputy Chairman, Philadelphia Park and Parx Casino; and Kim Heng Teo, VP of Sales and Business Development, Singapore Turf Club.
Kelly will be discussing what racecourses are doing to engage a new generation of sports fans. Kelly became Managing Director of Northern Racing Limited, the second largest operator of racecourses in the UK, in 2004 and oversaw the successful sale of the company in 2007. Since then Northern Racing has commenced major redevelopments, its racecourses have been awarded the management contract to open Britain’s newest turf racecourse for 80 years, and Kelly has been instrumental in negotiating new media rights deals. Kelly also sits as a member of Racing for Change, the Racing Enterprises Limited Board, the Race Course Association and At The Races.
Aitchison will be sitting on the panel focusing on what those in racing are doing to make the sport more attractive to broadcasters. Aitchison was appointed as Editor of Channel 4 Racing in January this year after moving from Sunset + Vine, where he was executive producer on football and off-peak sports programming. His key responsibilities included Channel 5, BBC Scotland’s football highlights shows, and production contracts for host broadcast services at the FIFA World Cup 2010. Aitchison has held previous roles at ITV Sport, BBC Sport and IMG.
